November ABS Challenge

Hi everyone!!!  I have been so busy busy in the last few months that I have been unable to post anything as hard as you may find that to believe. I have a bad habit of not creating a blog post for my Art Bead Scene monthly challenges and finally decided to get down to it. This month's inspiration piece is unique for me because of the colors: black and white mainly, which I do not use often in my designs. I find that interesting since I wear black and white clothes A LOT!!!!!

My bead table was so crazy disorganized tonight as I kept playing with different techniques and beads for the piece I was to create.

But I love the final result:

Hope that many of you participate this month!
Write to you soon.

Copper Bead Soup

Hello everyone!
My soup was cooked late but here it is!!
My partner is Karen Meador from Dream Catcher Ranch in San Antonio, Tx. She creates beautiful wire wrapped jewelry as well as amazing metal components.
She sent me a fold formed copper pendant made by her. It is totally cool! In my soup she also included a copper hand made clasp and link along with lapis beads.

I added silk ribbon in 2 different colors and a super cute polymer clay owl from Earth Tones Online on etsy.
Thanks so much to Lori for organizing this enormous pot of soup for everyone in the beading community to enjoy.
Happy blog hopping!!
With Love, Laura

Art Bead Scene March Challenge

Hello again:
I try to participate as often as I can in the ABS blog challenge. I blame Heather Powers for getting me addicted to art beads and what it truly means to be an artist. There is so much talent around us. This blog eventually got me to Lori Anderson's Bead Soup  after all.

Browsing through etsy this weekend I found all these wonderful beads and buttons to get you inspired to create a piece of jewelry for the march challenge.

Bead Soup is Cooked!!

Finally this day is here and I am so happy to see all the creativity from around the world.

My soup partner is Lissa Hanna from LH Beads in Florida. She sent me beautiful beads including lampwork ones made by her, and a very challenging focal piece that pushed me to create beyond my comfort zone. I also don't buy many beads in brown so the color palette in my piece was something challenging for me as well.

I tried different things when it came to framing this awesome sliced seashell focal piece. It did not have a hole at the top. I decided to make this tear shaped sterling frame from 16 G wire and soldered it together. I then wire wrapped the shell around the frame.
The connector at the top of the frame is a clasp.   I tend to be very symmmetric in my designs and could not get away from this but I love the final result. And the clasp she sent me: I just adore it!!  I am a sucker for unique clasps and this one is no exception.

Thanks Lisa and I love how you cooked the bead soup I sent you!!!!

BEAD SOUP IS TASTY!!

Hello again friends! I have not blogged in a very long time due to crazy schedules, kids, work, you name it!
Anyways, I am so happy that I am participating in the Bead Soup Blog Party this year. It is my first time and I have been paired up with Lisa Hanna from Florida. She is an incredibly talented lampwork artist and her designs are just awesome. Check out her blog at www.lhbeads.com/blog/

She has sent me a beautiful package of goodies. Boy, what a challenge to work with this amazing focal. I have already gone through many, many experiments with it!

Can not wait until blog hop day to see what everyone has made with their soup pots!
